Founded in 2025, Finansfabriken is Sweden’s human-centered financial services company focused on helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) succeed and grow. Unlike traditional banks that often reject SME loan applications, Finansfabriken opens doors where others close them.  

The company provides business loans (100,000 – 5,000,000 SEK), invoice purchasing, factoring, and debt collection services specifically designed for Swedish SMEs. With headquarters in Lund and a distributed development team, Finansfabriken combines modern technology with personal service, ensuring human credit specialists handle each application rather than automated systems. 

The Challenge

Finansfabriken was looking to implement a modern SME lending platform, going from manual infrastructure processes to a modern AWS managed infrastructure to gain operational efficiency without compromising their ability to serve their B2B customers in Sweden. The company realized that their existing manual deployment processes were time-consuming, and constraining their development team’s ability to deliver new features rapidly to Swedish SMEs.

To align with their strategic focus on scaling their human-centered lending approach, Finansfabriken was looking for a partner to help them design and deploy cloud-native infrastructure leveraging native AWS managed services. The new infrastructure needed to be secure, scalable, highly available, and compliant with Swedish/EU financial regulations while supporting their development team.

Solution

Speed and operational efficiency were critical considerations for Finansfabriken, motivating their migration from manual infrastructure processes to AWS services. Elastic Move built a cloud-native infrastructure on AWS to optimize Finansfabriken’s environment with automated, reliable infrastructure that could scale efficiently without affecting the functionality their development team relied on. Elastic Move leveraged Infrastructure as Code principles with Terraform to build reusable modules while allowing Finansfabriken to easily manage their multi-account environment.

The team built secure network architecture with Amazon VPCs, AWS Transit Gateway, and defense-in-depth security controls to protect sensitive financial data while supporting Finansfabriken’s development team. Additionally, Elastic Move established scalable compute infrastructure using AWS ECS Fargate clusters with auto-scaling capabilities and AWS Application Load Balancers for high availability.

Governance and Compliance Controls

Elastic Move developed preventive and detective controls using a custom Landing Zone, Elastic Move Cloud Base. Additional service control policies and detective controls using AWS Config rules to continuously monitor configurations with automated remediation through CloudWatch Events are available for the customer as well. 

Terraform modules embedded mandatory security policies during provisioning, while logging through AWS CloudTrail, Security Hub, and GuardDuty provided audit capabilities for regulatory requirements. 

Security and AI-Ready Infrastructure
Elastic Move implemented encrypted Amazon Aurora databases for high-performance transaction processing. Finansfabriken also wanted to establish a foundation for future AI/ML capabilities to enhance their lending decision processes. Elastic Move enabled this by creating a scalable, modern infrastructure foundation and establishing the multi-account architecture that would support advanced analytics and GenAI implementations for B2B banking applications. 

Outcome

Adopting AWS native services with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code, Finansfabriken can now focus on building innovative B2B lending features rather than managing infrastructure across multiple manual processes. 

In addition to speed and operational efficiency, Finansfabriken realized benefits of improved deployment reliability and enhanced security along with better scalability and compliance readiness. These outcomes help Finansfabriken deliver faster loan decisions to Swedish businesses while mitigating potential security and compliance risks.  

Elastic Move’s handover process and ongoing CloudOps partnership allowed Finansfabriken’s team to successfully take over all aspects of the infrastructure and seamlessly expand on the foundation created. Finansfabriken has experienced no critical downtime since the implementation, a testament to Elastic Move’s expertise, and can now deploy new functionality in minutes rather than hours. The partnership continues with planned enhancements focusing on GenAI enablement and AWS best practices.
